The Iowa Children's
Choice Award (ICCA) Reading Club is for third through fifth graders at Novak. Each year there are 20 books
nominated for the ICCA. Students who read at least two of these books are allowed to vote and be a part of choosing
Iowa's favorite book for young readers. At Novak our ICCA Reading Club encourages students to read these books.
If students read or listen to a specified number of books (depending on grade level) and pass the Reading Counts quiz they
will be invited to a pizza party with Mrs. Kessler in the library during the month of March. Each student will be asked
to bring a dish to share and Mrs. Kessler will provide the pizza! While we enjoy our food, we will discuss the
student's favorite book from the list.
Criteria by grade
level:
Third grade- read four books
Fourth grade- read five books
Fifth grade- read six books
